Congratulations to Dr. Terrion Williamson for receiving a $500,000 Mellon Foundation Grant in Environmental Justice Studies from the 2024 Higher Learning Open Call! Dr. Williamson is the Founder and Director of the Black Midwest Initiative (BMI), hosted through the Black Studies department. Through this grant, the BMI will create the Black Midwest Justice Hub, a digital platform serving as public pedagogy tool that brings together humanist faculty, students, organizers, and creatives working toward environmental and social justice on behalf of Black people and communities in the greater Midwest.
