The Washington Post Interviewed Dr. Barbara Ransby

The Washington Post interviewed Barbara Ransby, UIC distinguished professor of African American studies, gender and women's studies, and history; and director of the Social Justice Initiative at UIC, in a story about the Nov. 1991 ad opposing the appointment of Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court and the Senate committee’s mistreatment of Anita Hill. Ransby, who is one of three scholars credited for the ad that also featured signatures from more than 1,600 African American women, discusses Hill’s hearing, the steps taken to make the ad a reality, and the importance of including black women's voices in the public debate.
