Associate Professor of History Lynn Hudson Cited in New York Times

Associate AAST Faculty and Professor of History Lynn Hudson is interviewed in a profile of Mary Ellen Pleasant, who was entrepreneur, financier, real estate magnate and abolitionist. Hudson is the author of the 2003 biography titled “The Making of ‘Mammy Pleasant’: A Black Entrepreneur in Nineteenth-Century San Francisco.” The article is part of the New York Times’ obituary series Overlooked, which features obituaries for women and others whose lives were never recalled in the publication.
