Darius Bost is Associate Professor of Black Studies and Gender & Women’s Studies. His research focuses on Black cultural studies, gender and sexuality studies, Black queer history, and HIV/AIDS. Bost is the author of the award-winning book, Evidence of Being: The Black Gay Cultural Renaissance and the Politics of Violence (University of Chicago Press, 2019), and co-author (with C. Riley Snorton) of A Black Queer History of the United States (Beacon, 2026). His research has been supported by the Clark Art Institute, the Hutchins Center at Harvard University, the Eccles Center at the British Library, the Institute for Citizens and Scholars, the Martin Duberman Visiting Scholars program at the New York Public Library, and the Provost’s Office at the University of Pennsylvania. His current book project, "Sensual Histories: Visual Cultures of the Black Queer Atlantic," is a transnational study of contemporary Black queer visual cultures.
