The 2024 Grace Holt Celebration Keynote Speaker is Dr. Sami Schalk! Dr. Schalk (she/her) is an Associate Professor of Gender & Women's Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Schalk will present “504 and Beyond: Disability Politics and the Black Panther Party.”

Join Black Studies faculty, staff, and students for an opportunity to meet Dr. Sami Schalk at an informal Meet and Greet on Thursday, April 18th from 11am-12:30 pm CST in 1250 UH. Refreshments provided!

Covid Information: UIC does not require masking; however, we are asking that all attendees wear a mask. This is an accessibility measure for chronically ill/immunocompromised people and those living interdependently with them. Black Studies will have extra masks on hand the day of the event.

Access information: HEPA filter in the room. 1250 UH is located on the 12th floor of University Hall (UH) and is accessible by elevator. UH is near the Blue Line and the Harrison (#7) bus. There is a parking garage nearby at Harrison & Racine. UH has all-gender and accessible restrooms available on 11th floor (southeast corner across from room 1159).
